"The season won't be as early as last year"

In Spain, the stone fruit trees are blooming

Parts of Europe are currently bitterly cold. But, in Spain, farmers are already preparing for the summer fruit season. Paul van Groningen of Greenfood Iberica shares these photos. They are of the peach and nectarine trees in his grower's orchards, already in bloom.

"The season should be normal. It began really early last year. This year, growers expect to start with the first nectarines around 20 April. Last year it was 10-15 days earlier. Of course, anything can still happen. It depends on the weather. But for now, the prospects are good," says Paul.
