Yannick Collard, Collard:

Collard is now looking to conquer the arboricultural market

Already present in the world’s major vineyards with a well established distribution network, the company Collard is now looking to develop the marketing of its pneumatic leaf strippers in the main apple producing countries.

“We were there at the start of the distribution and the manufacture of the very first pneumatic vine strippers in 1970. Thanks to this wine-growing experience, we now offer a range of innovative and high-quality pneumatic leaf strippers, designed especially for apple producers. We rely on a network of loyal and specialized dealers throughout the world. The Collard pneumatic leaf strippers are subject to a large number of international industrial protections,” explains Yannick Collard, chairman of the board of directors at Collard.

“In arboriculture, leaf stripping has many beneficial effects”
In arboriculture, leaf stripping is a practice which is essential for the smooth running of the production. “Thinning the leaves facilitates the penetration of light in order to improve the color of the fruit, especially apples. It also helps increase the profitability of apple varieties when the color is a determining price criterion. It makes it possible for coloring to occur earlier and it can increase the yields of the first harvest. Leaf-stripping guarantees better productivity during the harvest by saving time (fewer leaves) and more comfort for the pickers. Last but not least, it has a beneficial sanitary effect, as it allows for a better penetration of the phytosanitary treatments.”

About Collard
With several sites at the heart of the prestigious Champenois vineyards, the Collard company has been serving wine-growers for five generations. “As the inventor of the very first vine trimmer in the world in 1962, our company has gradually established itself in vineyards throughout the world. Our trimmers, leaf strippers, pre-pruners, and many other pieces of equipment, make our company a leader in this field.”

Kirogn, a company specialized in the mechanical pruning of plants and the inventor of the first pruning cutter intended for arboriculture, joined the Collard Group in 1991. These companies are still managed by the Collard family, who makes sure the following values are respected: family, innovation, loyalty, internationality and rigor.
