New references and new salad mixes from L'Insalata dell'Orto

Fresh-cut Venetian radicchio PGI to Italian and European markets

The five new varieties of PGI Venetian radicchio are now available to consumers in fresh-cut packs. L'Insalata dell'Orto wants to increase the value of typical local products and their distribution domestically and abroad.

"We have teamed up with the Consortia to work as processors to promote and bring out the most distinctive features of the Venetian radicchio. We are talking specifically about Radicchio rosso di Treviso Igp, Radicchio Variegato di Castelfranco Igp, Radicchio Chioggia Igp, Radicchio Verona Igp," said Sara Menin of L'Insalata dell'Orto.

The company offers a total of five different products, such as single products of each reference (Radicchio di Chioggia, Castelfranco and Verona), products that feature a mix of these three references, and finally a product made with the Variegato di Castelfranco and the Treviso tardivo.

"The Busana farm produces also Radicchio Variegato di Castelfranco Igp. We wanted to narrate the story of a specific Italian area, renowned for the quality of its product and its service, allowing us to the trace the steps from the farm to the packaging to the table. The radicchio is packaged per 165 grams, except the Variegato and Treviso, which are packaged per 150 grams.

The company also exports abroad. The major requests originate from Germany, Poland and Slovenia. "Exporting a typical product such as Venetian radicchio gives us satisfaction. We are convinced that both Italian and foreign consumers will appreciate the characteristics of a vegetable that is particularly crisp and brightly colored this year, thanks in part also to the weather conditions".

"Our main customers are the large-scale distribution chains. One in particular has already included us under its brand among its premium line, as proof of the attention paid to the products of this territory. Together with the quality Made in Italy, it can and must make a difference," concluded Sara Menin.
