Menno Chemie presents latest low pressure Skumix foaming process

"Possible areas of application would be vegetable packers, peeling plants and convenience production"

Due to the strong demand, Menno Chemie LLC has developed a new model variant for the "high-end foodgrade" area of the proven Skumix foam application. It is a mobile disinfection device made of stainless steel with air drive, which was especially designed for the use in the food sector. Unique to the latest Skumix generation is the recently patented low-pressure process.

Skumix foam application was launched some eight years ago and has proven its worth over the years in various fields of application, such as horticulture, food production and industry. Compared to "conventional" application techniques, the use of foam leads to demonstrably better cleaning and disinfection of dirty surfaces and production areas.

A prototype of the latest Skumix process is being tested at the production site of Elbo BV in Panningen (NL). In order to ensure optimum conductivity, the water quality is particularly important. The water used should therefore not be too "hard".

"We have developed our latest Skumix process especially for the food processing industry. Due to the low pressure, the foam performance is considerably increased and the foam adheres to the surface longer and more firmly. How long the foam will finally last can be adjusted by the customer individually, according to what is desired and the ancillary conditions. It will depend on different factors, like foam consistency concentration, water quality and room temperature," explains Christian Eidam, sales manager with the enterprise.

Successful cooperation
Menno Chemie, based out of Norderstedt, also offers both the mechanical equipment and the chemicals that are necessary. This means that everything can come from one supplier, and the north German enterprise co-operates with different partners in the neighbouring country. "The cooperation with Elbo Engineering BV was established at the beginning of the year and since that time we have worked together on the market launch of the new process. Basically Elbo builds the machine, and we supply the chemistry and the technology behind it."

Fresh foam coating immediately after application. The latest Skumix innovation is also certified organic.

Great potential in the convenience sector
With the new process, Menno Chemie now wants to take the next step towards the convenience industry. Eidam: "Although our solution is suitable for the processing of all kinds of food, we still see great potential for application, especially in the fruit and vegetable industry. Possible areas of application include vegetable packers, peeling plants and manufacturers of convenience products. With the new Skumix generation, we can cover all sizes of business, from medium-sized companies to large-scale industry."
