"The 2020/21 citrus fruit campaign seems to be promising. We started the new season only two days ago. Requests are arriving and so are and new customers. We are ready to ship the Apulian citrus fruits to Europe, the commercial transactions will continue throughout March, when the markets will receive our late varieties," said Gianni Martucci, owner of the eponymous company, Martucci, who are specialized in the citrus fruit trade and have been operating since 1980.

"We are in the Gulf of Taranto, more precisely in Massafra, areas in which the famous clementine PGI-Protected Geographical Indication is grown, distinguished for its organoleptic profile. Our catalog includes Clemenruby, one of the first clementines released on the market, and then Caffin, Corsica 2, Navel oranges, the common clementine, Tarocco oranges and Hernandina. More than 80% of citrus fruits are exported, mainly to Germany, France, Slovenia, Hungary, Poland, Macedonia and Greece, to which two trucks leave daily, while the remaining part is sold on the Italian fruit and vegetable markets."
"In addition to the 5 different types of calibers, the customer can 
choose the type of processing and packaging preferred. On each pallet we enclose a declaration stating that Martucci's products are treated with ozone and UV lamps to destroy viruses and bacteria while ensuring food safety without the use of chemicals."
"Unfortunately, the production yields were reduced by about 50% for the new campaign, because of the summer hailstorms. Trees are still loaded with fruit, but the size is small. However, the citrus exporting countries, such as Greece and Albania, have also undergone heavy losses due to the adverse climatic events that occurred at an advanced stage of growth. Therefore, this year we should not have any major difficulties in selling abroad, nor in competition. European countries will be supplied with Italian products."
