Alban Descamps, En'Diva:

"The domestic, French market poses two big challenges for us"

“There are currently no large batches of chicory available,” says Alban Descamps of En'Diva. “We are gradually moving towards the transition between the roots sown in 2019 and those sown in 2020. The last season was quite dry, which means that the root reserves are relatively limited. The new roots of the 2020 seedling, in turn, are struggling to grow into a nice size chicory. At the same time, demand remains relatively high, but sales are proceeding normally. There are relatively few fluctuations in an increasingly stronger market. ”

Two challenges
For the near future, En'Diva is preparing for two major challenges in the domestic French market. “The first challenge has to do with the fact that there is a major problem with the packaging. It remains to be seen what will and will no longer be permitted under the EGAlim law, which prohibits disposable plastics. It is a big challenge for chicory to find an alternative to plastic packaging. ”

The second challenge has everything to do with the burden on the environment, viewed from the consumer's point of view. “In the French market, an increasing emphasis is being placed on environment-related certifications, especially HEV certification. We are currently researching the possibilities for this. Would this certification be feasible for our chicory varieties? We don't know the answer to this question yet, but of course we hope so. ”

Alban Descamps and Stéphane Baudin, En'Diva commercial employees

En'Diva offers the widest possible range of chicory. Consider, for example, classic chicory, chicory that is suitable for use as a starter, Carmine and Friseline.
