The value of Andalusian lemon exports increases by 30%

According to data from the Observatory of Prices and Markets of the Junta de Andalucía, lemon exports between October 2019 and May 2020 increased by 14% in volume and 30% in value over the same period of the previous season. The monthly trend of exports to the European market is similar to last season. There was an increase in October, November, and February, and March and April stood out.

According to the Observatory, during the first 8 months of the campaign, orange exports accounted for 78% of all citrus exports, mandarins for 12% of sales (in quantity), and lemon and grapefruit exports were not very representative.

Good data for orange and mandarin
Andalusian orange exports decreased by 2% in volume but increased by 11% in value over the previous season. The monthly trend of exports to the European market is also similar to last season. "The values in the first two months were slightly higher. There was a significant increase in March and a significant decrease in May. Extra-Community exports stand out due to their ups and downs and decline since March when compared to the previous season."

Mandarin exports decreased by 3% in volume but increased by 29% in value over the previous season. Mandarin exports to the European market were also similar to previous campaigns. When compared to the previous campaign, there was an increase in sales in October and January and a notable decrease in April and May.

Grapefruit
Grapefruit exports increased by 9% in volume and 19% in value over the previous campaign. The monthly evolution of exports to the European market was also similar to past campaigns but there was a considerable increase in the months of November and December, the Observatory concluded.
