Restructuring at Landgard eG:

Supervisory Board appoints Karl Voges to the Management Board with immediate effect

The supervisory board has appointed Karl Voges to the management board of Landgard eG with immediate effect. In this function, he will assume responsibility for the Fruit & Vegetables division in particular. Labinot Elshani resigns from the Management Board. "Karl Voges knows Landgard very well due, to his previous work on the Management Board and has an excellent network in the industry," says Bert Schmitz, Chairman of the Supervisory Board.

Voges has more than 20 years of professional experience in cooperative organisations, including his time from 2013 to 2017 as a member of the board at Landgard. In this function, he made a significant contribution to the successful restructuring during the turnaround phase, especially in the fruit & vegetable division. Through his diverse involvement in professional associations - for example as Chairman of the Federal Association of Fruit and Vegetable Producers' Organisations, as a member of the Executive Board of the Federal Committee for Fruit and Vegetables, as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Packaging Pool Germany for Fruit and Vegetables, as a member of the Advisory Board for Quality and Safety or as a member of the Executive Board of the German Raiffeisen Association - he will bring his dense network into the organisation.

Karl Voges

Voges has set three priorities for his work on the Landgard board:

1. strengthening of the production companies
A central aspect for Karl Voges is the strengthening of the production companies. Environmental protection and regionality are becoming increasingly important arguments vis-à-vis trade and consumers. However, this is also accompanied by challenges for the farms to meet these growing expectations - availability of goods in the region, quality requirements of the trade, new legal requirements and regulations such as the use of seasonal workers. Here it is Landgard's task to support and relieve the cooperative members.

2. close cooperation with the trade customers
"Another important goal for me is that we offer our retail partners comprehensive added value right up to the shop counter through first-hand purchase of goods," he says. "In doing so, we will continue and expand the good partnership-based cooperation of the past few years in a sales-oriented manner".

3. strengthen the marketing of producer goods
The focus of Landgard will continue to be on the marketing of products from first-hand purchase of the member companies. "The trade with externally produced fruit and vegetables is important for the cooperative and thus for the member companies wherever it contributes to securing the supply of goods in terms of year-round category solutions from which everyone benefits," says Voges.
