Bert Jansen, Fresh Mushroom Europe:

"Good prospects for chanterelle season"

After the early spring season began with morels at FME, the chanterelle season has now also started. "Now that the asparagus season has officially come to an end, we can enjoy the new season of chanterelles," says Bert Jansen, commercial director at FME.

"The prospects are good at the moment. The new harvest of chanterelles is beautiful and above all full of flavour. Cantharellus cibarius, also called girolle, also has the characteristic orange-gold colour and a nice full flavor this year. Many chefs and more and more consumers are eager to prepare beautiful dishes in which the fruity smell and peppery taste of the chanterelle of this new harvest comes into its own. The taste of chanterelles is well reflected in meat dishes and forms a good (taste) combination with cheese or egg. The chanterelle is also a good basis to surprise the vegan consumers ". says Bert.

In addition to chanterelles, FME brings a very wide range of wild mushrooms to Europe from all over the world and distributes them to its customers.
