Chaos reigned on Friday afternoon at De Bleek Culinair in Borne, the Netherlands. "While refilling the kiwi gold, an employee felt something wriggling around. And out popped a gecko," says owner, Evert Pross. "She, of course, got a big fright. The store was a little chaotic too. It's really unusual. In the 24 years I've been here, I've never experienced something like this."
The gecko came from New Zealand. Evert estimates the little creature traveled for at least six weeks. These animals can apparently survive for long periods without food and water. Evert took the little stowaway to a local pet store, where it's being well taken care of in a terrarium.
