Fruitimprese reported that, during the first two months of 2020, there was a significant growth in the value of exports despite the drop in the volumes commercialized. Imports also increased, leading to a positive balance of -30.5%(€147.4 million).
The value of exports exceeded €859 million (+6.9%) at 595,634 tons (-2.8%). Imports were worth €711.5 million (+20.2%) at 615.340 tons (+10.5%).
The growth in value concerned mainly pulses and vegetables (+14.2%) and citrus fruit (10.3%). In terms of absolute values, pulses and vegetables occupied the first place (€356.2 million) followed by fresh fruit (€319.3 million).
As for imports, the leading products were citrus fruit (+64.4% value and +32.4% quantity), fresh fruit (+35.2% value and +41.9% quantity) and dried fruit (+44.2% value, almost €261 million).
