Turkish dried apricot exports increase in 2020

During the first quarter of 2020, Turkey exported 25,934 tons of dried apricots from Malatya for 69 million dollars.

The region of Malatya produces 85% of the dried apricot globally. This product is the third Turkish product to receive a geographical indication from the European Union (EU) after Antep baklava and Aydın fig.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Malatya Commercial Stock Exchange, Ramazan Özan, stated that the export figures for dried apricots during the first quarter of this year were satisfactory despite the global coronavirus epidemic.

Özan stated that in 2019 exports of this dehydrated fruit amounted to $63,909,000, totaling 25,677 tons in the first quarter of the year.
