Potatoes instead of asparagus characterize current food shipments

"Our advantage is that we can react flexibly to current developments"

PS Food Logistics LLC is an internationally operating forwarding agent. The company has two branches, one in Neckarsulm and one in Panevėžys, Lithuania. According to Managing Director Konstantin Popov, the crisis has not yet affected the daily business, as no goods are still transported between the two countries.

However, the current situation is already leading to understaffing in relation to the increasing number of orders. In this case, the personnel in Lithuania could be quickly called upon. Managing Director Konstantin Popov comments: "We don't want to overload our drivers too much now, as we will ultimately need them in the coming weeks and months. If they were to do all the double shifts now, they would already be exhausted in a few weeks."

Potatoes instead of asparagus
In the course of the massive stockpiling by consumers, mainly potatoes are now being transported by the tonne in order to supply food retailers. "We transport less asparagus, however, as there is less harvesting of these due to the seasonal shortage of labour and the closure of the restaurants. Our advantage is that, as an owner-managed company, we can react flexibly to these market developments and shift our daily business to stored products such as potatoes."
