Papa tangerines trialed in Chayu County, Linzhi City, Tibet, have just hit the market. The first harvest of over 1,000 kilos were sold out at a price of 10 yuan per half a kilo on March 2, reported by “People’s Daily”.
Due to the special geographical environment, people in Tibet usually have slower access to fresh seasonal fruit than people in the mainland. However, with a large difference in the altitude and diverse climatic conditions, various types of fruit have been cultivated in different parts of Tibet with the help of continued development of agricultural technology. For example, yellow tangerines and papa tangerines produced in Chayu County, Linzhi City have recently become available.
“Since the trial started in Tibet, this is the first time that large acreages have come into fruition. The production is limited at only a little more than 1,000 kilograms, but the appearance and taste are both excellent. Our yellow tangerines have become available during the Spring Festival and our papa tangerines have only just hit the market and are enjoying immense popularity,” shared the local grower.
