Melon and watermelon planting starts in Almeria's Poniente

In recent weeks, the first melon and watermelon plantings have already started to be carried out in Almería, specifically in the fields of Níjar. According to sources from the Council of Agriculture of the Government of Andalusia, the majority of plantings of both fruits will be carried out in that region in February-March.

It is well known that being the first to bring these fruits to the market can allow you to obtain a good price, but it is also worth taking into account that the later varieties grow quicker and provide more kilos and a higher quality.

Now it is the turn of the Poniente region, where melons, mainly Cantaloup and Galia, and watermelons have already started to be planted on surfaces protected by thermal blankets.
