First fruit and veg delivery to Scotland

Fountain Fresh breaks the final frontier

Fountain Fresh broke the final frontier earlier this week with their first delivery of fruit and vegetables north of the border. The fresh produce supplier  has been managing the logistics side of the business with their own trucks for a couple of years now.

"We started off with one truck delivering produce in London around two years ago. We now have two trucks for London, two for the Midlands and one going to Cornwall, our latest addition is the truck going to the wholesale markets in Edinburgh and Glasgow," explained Jack Hanson.

"We are increasing the efficiencies by taking total control of the supply chain, from importing right to the market place. This also improves the quality of the produce at the final destination.

The company deliver the produce and ensure they have back-load so the trucks are not returning empty.

The run to Scotland which took place Sunday - Monday was done as a trial to make sure they had the timings right. Despite the stormy conditions all went to plan with no delays.

Jack does say that of course there will be issues through the winter if get snow, but that goes for all the routes and all haulage companies.
