"We never thought that the dry summer of 2018 would be followed by another." Marion Pahmeyer from the potato factory in Rotenhagen remembers the past season with some unease. Then, the daily weather data always led to some worries. "Somehow the rain always avoided us", she told the Haller Kreisblatt. For this reason, she and her husband Uwe have now submitted the building application for another large hall. It will enable larger quantities of potatoes to be stored. Accordingly, the Pahmeyers become more independent from expensive purchases. The city has already given the building the green light.

The new hall will be 1,600 square metres in size and will hold 3,500 tonnes of potatoes. This corresponds to a cultivation area of 75 hectares. The field crops are to be stored in large crates. The hall will be cooled and well ventilated so that the potatoes -for further processing in the factory- are always of a consistent quality - until the next harvest arrives.
