"Senegalese demand for carrots will fall soon"

Not all the carrots in Belgium have been harvested. Most have, however, been grubbed already. "This year's carrots are of good quality. We had several plots we had to irrigate. But, we got nice carrots, even from the non-irrigated fields," says Dirk de Maré of Grimex.

“In recent weeks, there has been a reasonable demand from Africa. That will, however, die down a bit now. The last containers to Senegal are being loaded now. That country's own production will begin soon. There is still a little demand from the Ivory Coast and the Canary Islands. But that, too, is not spectacular, " adds Dirk.

Successor sought

Grimex is still looking for a successor. "The work is varied but also speculative. We hope to find someone who can keep running our company well. It would be a pity if we could not find a successor," concludes Dirk.
