Freight Line Europe to deliver directly from Belgium and the Netherlands to Lyon-Corbas

To Lyon with no stopover in Rungis

On Monday night, staff from Freight Line Europe (FLE) visited the Lyon-Corbas wholesale market in France. They spoke to the traders there. The men from this Dutch logistics service company enjoyed their visit to the market.

Next week, Freight Line Europe will begin a direct line to Lyon (on an A-B basis). Being in Lyon brought back a lot of memories for Henk van Berkel. He works at FLE. He has more than 25 years of experience with transportation to France.

“We saw many well-known importers from our network at the market. Soon we will be able to supply them directly from Belgian and the Netherlands again. Freight Line will resume this A-B service because of the rising demand from not only Dutch exporters," says Henk.

"Importers in the Lyon region and the market traders in Corbas also want it. The demand from these different parties is mainly focused on the timely delivery of goods. They want to be able to begin selling these products that same morning."

Speedy delivery is the most important reason to set up this line. However, at the same time, it is also the biggest challenge. "These timely deliveries rely on three things. Freight Line's experience, combined with its current well-organized structure and way of working," says FLE's Viktor Vijverberg.

"Compare it with our service delivery in England. If you want to catch the boat, you have to load on time. The same is true for supplying goods on an A-B basis to the Lyon region. It is now a matter of time before we prove ourselves. The traders still think deliveries cannot be made on time. This has been their experience in recent years. We must prove the opposite."

Sander van Schie will come in to reinforce Freight Line's planning expertise. This is in addition to Henk van Berkel and Philippe Berchoux's knowledge and experience. Sander has a lot of experience with transport planning to Lyon too.
