Many foreign restaurateurs and specialist retailers have found a place in Austrian cities. Accordingly, new marketing opportunities have arisen for wholesalers in this urban environment. If you show at least a wide range of exotic fruit and vegetable products. The wholesaler All Day Fresh GmbH in Salzburg wants to cover this, in part still unfulfilled, market gap, explains owner Erbil Oruc.

In May of this year, Mr. Oruc took over the clientele of an existing company and founded Allday Fresh LLC. The aim of the new fresh trade is to provide the mixed customer base with a colorful range of regional and imported fruit and vegetable products on a daily basis. "Seasonally, we source a certain part of our range of regional producers in the Salzburg area. In addition, we buy five days a week directly at the Munich Wholesale Market, so that we leave nothing to be desired."
Outside the domestic season, the fruit vegetables are sourced predominantly from Spain and the Netherlands.
Imminent change to imported vegetables
Pome fruit, salads and fruit vegetables are currently sourced predominantly from regional cultivation. For many products, however, the seasonal change is imminent, says Oruc, who previously worked at another Salzburg wholesaler's for six years. "The salad and single vegetables offer is already getting scarcer and I assume that we have to completely revert to other origins by mid-November. In winter we will get our vegetables mainly from Spain."
Allday Fresh supplies mainly restaurateurs and specialist retailers. On the German side of the border, the young company has also already convinced its first customers. "Of course, we would like to expand this German clientele in the near future," says Oruc.
Foreign specialist retailers
The main clientele of the young wholesale company are restaurants and other restaurateurs in the area. In addition, however, specialist retailers are also supplied accordingly. "I see an interesting market share of overseas specialist retail stores, whether Turks, Syrians or Afghans. This clientele requires very different items - e.g. Bitter melons or legumes - as the classic, Austrian retail. "According to Oruc there are still few suppliers who deal with this customer segment. "Our concern is accordingly to cover this market niche."
