The Austrian table potato market shows a balanced picture. With mostly optimal soil conditions, harvesting progresses rapidly in many places - supply pressure is still not on. Supplying the markets is not a problem although there are -as always- problems with wireworm, scab and deformations. Overall, quality-related sortings are significantly below last year's levels. The demand side is quite satisfactory. Ongoing actions in food retailing provide momentum and are from well received by the consumers - there is no change in producer prices. In Lower Austria, at the beginning of the week, there was a price range of € 22 per 100 kg, and €28 Euro per 100 kg.
Stable onion prices
The Austrian onion market starts stable in October. The harvest work is now almost completed. Domestic demand is fundamentally satisfactory according to the season. The export options remain manageable - For the prices, there is no change to the previous week. For onion, cleaned and sorted in the box, of appropriate quality and size, between €23 and 28 per 100kg is being paid.
Calm carrot market
The Lower Austrian Carrot Market is hardly changed from the previous week. Harvest volumes will continue to be adjusted to current needs. With the storage one waits a bit more. The earnings level should be average to just below average this year. Recently, increased mice damage has been reported. Producer prices are stable at last week's levels.
