For Swiss Frutco AG, this year is all about the future and its accompanying challenges. In the face of a tense world situation, fiercer competition and the increasing demand for full process control and transparency, Frutco AG has succeeded in initiating the backward integration of the retailer of purees, concentrates and juices. In addition, it digitized all processes from the farm to the end customer with the software Cropin and SAP.

The construction of a power plant in Nicaragua, also by Rossi & Cartelli, is back on schedule despite political turmoil and setbacks. "The fruits of Frutco AG's own Maracuya farms, planted with the 'Chimaco' variety, which are currently distributed through the local market, should find their way into high-quality juice here in the future. The certification process for organic production is largely completed," says a company spokeswoman.

New cultivation project in Cameroon
In order to be able to offer further products "from our own production" in the future, Frutco AG has started another project in Cameroon, Africa. Over an area of several thousand hectares, Frutco AG and other partners will finance and implement a cultivation project that aims to produce a sustainable bio-energy plant and to produce juice and purees from pineapple, mangoes, guavas and avocados. In addition, IQF fruits, dried fruits and fruit fibers for other industries and biomass for energy production from the waste and peels of the fruits are produced. "Finally, at Anuga, we will also be presenting our new banana Puree plant 'FruBaTec' in Colombia."

The management added: "The commitment to own cultivation and production for securing resources and the resulting transformation from dealer to producer forms the most important pillar of the strategic future of the company as a strong and future-oriented partner of our European and international customers."
