OP Consorzio Funghi di Treviso celebrates 20 year anniversary

An event to celebrate 20 years of activity and the inauguration of a new wing was organized on 20th September 2019 in Istrana (Treviso) by OP Consorzio Funghi di Treviso, founded in 1999 by 4 companies and now including 13 members.

"The first 4 companies that formed the consortium were Funghi d’Oro, Contessa, Brunetta/Bel Fungo and GF. At the time, production was 2000 tons with a turnover of 5 billion Lira. We now produce 18 thousand tons and reach a turnover of around €40 million," explained president Romeo Fuser.

Over 300 people took part in the event that included a visit to the mushroom beds and production/packaging departments and a gala dinner. A new wing boasting new fresh-cut technologies was also inaugurated.

At the same time, new refrigerated and frozen products have been introduced dedicated to the food or catering worlds. Mushrooms are immediately steamed, cooled down and graded, then they are blast chilled to -18°C thanks to the IQF – Individual Quick Freezing technology.

In 2007 O.P. Consorzio Funghi di Treviso became a cooperative and grew from 4 to 9 members, until it reached the current 13. During the same year, the cooperative was recognized by the EU as a PO, strengthening its leadership thanks to new financing and shared strategies.

A renewed communication strategy was implemented in 2012 with a new brand and concept. "Cuore di funghi" thus became the symbol of the consortium, stressing its unconditional love for the work. At the same time, the PO became part of Consorzio Fungo Italiano Certificato.

A history marked by perseverance, ambition and a large dose of courage for a company that managed to literally rise from the ashes after the fires that risked blowing everything up in smoke.
