For now no urgent measures at the banana supplier Fruchthof Nagel

"We do not experience supply shortages"

A fungal disease has reached the fifth largest banana plant in Colombia, decimating the most popular variety among Germans. However, at Fruchthof Nagel in Ilsfeld there is no panic because the owners have taken precautions, they say in a conversation with the Heilbronner Stimme. "We do not feel anything of a supply shortage, nor do I see any dramatic developments," says Managing Director Martin Löffler.

"Fruchthof Nagel not only buys bananas from Colombia, but also from other Latin American countries - Costa Rica, Panama and Ecuador," says Löffler. There are also other growing countries worldwide that supplied the Neu-Ulm company. For the customers, the current situation is of no importance. "Bananas are fresh products, delivered on a daily basis and scheduled by us on a weekly basis, and thanks to the supply alternatives, there will always be bananas available."
