Information about action on September 4

French transport companies threaten action in September

The most important workers union in France Fédération Nationale des Transports Routiers (FNTR) has announced industrial action in September in response to a number of measures that the French government wants to impose. These measures will lead to an increase in taxes on transport companies. What this industrial action will look like, is to be announced on Wednesday September 4. We are following the developments and updating you as more information become available.

More and more French transport businesses are pessimistic about the future and the dissatisfaction about the government measures is increasing, a questionnaire by the FNTR shows.

The French minister of transport Elisabeth Borne already indicated that there is little she can change about the measures, but FNTR is hoping that their action will convince the government to reverse a number of measures.

On September 4 the type of protest will be announced. Although the FNTR hasn't mentioned road blocks yet, in July the organisation warned the government about the risk of demonstrations in the region in September.
