A new record for Arancia di Ribera DOP with 10 million kg sodl

A new record for the sales of Arancia di Ribera DOP. Parlapiano Fruit, managed to stand out in particular for a Sicilian company specializing in the production and commercialization of this citrus fruit.

During the 2018/19 campaign, certifying body I..S. for Sicily certified almost 10,000,000 kg of Arancia di Ribera DOP, commercialized as Navelina, Brasiliano and Washington Navel. Parlapiano Fruit confirmed itself as a leader in the commercialization of these oranges as it handled around 60% of the volume commercialized.

The growth in production and commercialization volumes is significant as the market and public seem to be interested in produce of a certified quality.

Arancia di Ribera DOP productions can be recognized by the PDO mark on the label as well as by the Consorzio di Tutela Riberella mark.

The managers of the consortium stated that "we cannot but thank all our producers and packagers, processing and packaging companies but, most of all, consumers who choose PDO oranges from Ribera, as they purchase a piece of Sicily and support our economy."

Consorzio di tutela dell'Arancia di Ribera DOP gathers 292 companies, 6 organizations part of the PDO system and over 1000 hectares.

Considering how much these oranges are appreciated by the retail chains, the consortium is now aiming at strengthening sales on the national territory and growing its exports to new foreign markets, also thanks to organic and seedless varieties.

Giuseppe Pasciuta

"The segment is growing and needs investments in suitable information and promotional campaigns and innovation. In addition, new producers and packagers are welcome," stated consortium president Giuseppe Pasciuta.
