The first price for potatoes has been defined in Emilia Romagna and it is a profitable one. The price of packaged potatoes entering the market was also defined in compliance with the framework agreement, as new potatoes have almost ended.
The price was established at €0.30/kg for ex works produce. The price ex warehouse in 1.5-2.0 and 2.5 kg vertbags, grades 40/70 or 45/75, was established at €0.80/kg.
On 28th June 2019, the components of the Commissione Paritetica della borsa patate, (representatives from trader organisations Fruitimprese and Ascom, producers part of Agripat as well as Apofruit Italia, Patfrut and Cico), coordinated by CePa, analysed the situation on an European level.
Despite the changing weather, harvesting will start over the next few days with excellent-quality productions.
"We are pleased with what we achieved thanks to the Regional Framework Agreement, which defines important aspects of the chain for producers and is an additional guarantee for distribution chains. All members hold the GlobalGAP-Grasp certifications, which are making a difference when it comes to product presentation and represent a guarantee for consumers," stated expert Luciano Trentini.
"This agreement safeguards potato growers from the Emilia-Romagna area. What is more, the commercial system finds it useful to plan sales with produce that is of high quality and holds certifications."
