The new surface in Seville will allow extending the season to 20 weeks

HaciendasBio expects to produce 7,800 tons of organic stone fruit

HaciendasBio, Spain's leading organic fruit and vegetable producer and exporter of organic horticultural products to Europe, expects to produce 7,800 tons of stone fruit in the current campaign, which began in mid-April and will last for 20 weeks.

Thanks to the launch of its new La Falamosa farm in Seville in January 2018, the company has been able to advance its production schedule in relationship to other autonomous regions, such as Extremadura or Catalonia, where the campaign began in early May.

Currently, the company exports 50% of its stone fruit to Germany. The rest is shared between Spain and other countries of the European Union, such as Switzerland, France, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.

Key territories for stone fruit
HaciendasBio thoroughly studies the areas where it cultivates stone fruit to be able to extend the campaign schedule to the maximum. La Falamosa, the farm in Seville, has a humid climate and minimum temperatures that allow the precocity of peach and nectarine. In addition, Andalusia experiences slight changes in temperature between morning and night, an aspect that favors the production of these fruits in the territory and that has allowed advancing the production of stone fruit by 15 days. The rest of the company farms that produce stone fruit are located in Catalonia and Zaragoza and have completely different characteristics, with cold winters that allow extending the campaign with a later harvest.

Specifically, the 60 tons produced in the new Andalusian farm of HaciendasBio will join the end of the campaign fruits of other farms that they own throughout the Spanish territory. The bulk of the production volume, approximately 6,440 tons of the total, will be produced in Extremadura, in 10 farms in Badajoz (the Chaparrito, Concejiles, Corchuela, GuareƱa, La Albuera, La Floriana, Palos de Guadiana, Pesquero Verde, Santa Maria, and Traventosa farms); in Catalonia, in the Montsuar farm located in the Pla d'Urgell, which will produce 300 tons, and in the Valleluz farm in Zaragoza, which is estimated will produce 1,000 tons.
