Bad weather did not affect Selenella potatoes

According to Massimo Cristiani, the new potato season started in the best of ways and is going very well for the Selenella brand.

"Producer prices are good and demand is lively. All in all, the weather did not penalize production save for a few small areas and we can say we are pleased with how things are going."

Giacomo Acinelli, agronomic manager at Selenella, explained that "the weather in May did not cause big problems. Rain was good for for the crops, especially in Emilia Romagna. Of course the low temperatures delayed the development of plants, but there were no big problems, especially since potatoes were slightly early due to the early sowing and warm spring. May leveled things out."

"Most of the crops are located in Emilia-Romagna, but we work with producers from other areas as well (Sicily, Puglia and Lazio), so supplies can be continuous."

Selenella has recently widened its range, adding new products on top of "traditional" selenium potatoes - rosé potatoes, onions and carrots are an example. "We are focused on this direction, putting quality first and supporting a close relationship among producers, flavor and tradition."

Rosé potatoes are a new variety developed in Italy exclusively by the consortium. "Just like all the other Selenella products, they are cultivated following integrated production techniques. They share the same values of all the other Selenella products - quality, safety, health and environmental sustainability."
