Fungo Cesena introduces fresh hand-sliced mushrooms

Fungo Cesena has introduced hand-sliced portobello mushrooms in a special packaging for a premium range, perfect for summer.

Hand-sliced portobello mushrooms

"Our range includes a lot of products but we wanted to add another premium one. Sliced mushrooms are increasingly in demand, and we have decided to come up with a dedicated line of hand-sliced mushrooms. We then place the mushrooms in black trays, creating an excellent color contrast," explains Giampaolo Evangelisti.

Portobello mushrooms from Cesena, the indication of origin is an added value

The mushrooms are available in various formats, the most popular being the 250-300 gram tray. 250 and 400 gram trays are available for whole mushrooms.

2018 was a very positive year for Fungo Cesena, with around 1000 tons of portobello mushrooms produced and another 200 tons commercialized. In addition to Evangelisti, partners are Letizia Sirri and Fabio Montalti.

Packaging that guarantees freshness

"The added value for these mushrooms is that they are fresh. Our production chain is organized so that can reach stores within 24 hours. We have even opted against some shipments abroad as final quality was not guaranteed."

The company is expanding and reaching an increasing number of Italian wholesale markets. This is why additional production units are currently being built and should be ready in autumn. The growth cycle of portobello mushrooms lasts 15 days and harvesting occurs over 3 weeks.
