Discounter Lidl has abandoned its plans to in the future only sell Fairtrade bananas. Starting this summer, Lidl will once again offer bananas nationwide without Fairtrade certification, announced the discounter.
"We have not been able to convince the customer of our commitment," said Lidl manager Jan Bock. The Fairtrade label identifies goods that are fair trade and have been manufactured in accordance with certain social, environmental and economic criteria.
