France: 40% of the apricot harvest affected by frost

The sudden temperature drop last week caused important damage to the blooming apricot orchards in Baronnies. Some 50 farms are affected. The municipalities concerned are: La Penne-sur-l’Ouvèze, Buis-les-Baronnies, Vercoiran, Sainte-Euphémie, Saint-Auban, Sainte-Jalle, Bésignan and Saint-Sauveur-Gouvernet.

This has farmers worried about the future of the apricot orchards in the region. In 2017, 85% of the harvest was indeed destroyed, and 70% in 2018.
