New website for the International Strawberry Symposium

The International Strawberry Symposium will take place in Rimini from 3rd to 6th May 2020 in conjunction with Macfrut. The international website went online a few days ago (click here).

The global event will also feature visits to the various production areas: Metaponto in Basilicata, Parete in Campania, Ancona in Marche, Cesena and Ferrara in Emilia-Romagna, Verona in Veneto and Bolzano in Trentino-Alto Adige.

"Organizational activities are in full swing so that the event can be at the same level of past editions. Researchers from all over the world will discuss the evolution of strawberry cultivation," explains Gianluca Baruzzi, one of the researchers involved together with Bruno Mezzetti and Maurizio Battino.

Italy is the only country cultivating varieties that need few chill hours (in the south) as well as those suitable for mountain areas (in Trentino). Sharing knowledge and progress contributes to making the crop more competitive and in line with consumer needs.

In this phase, after receiving the answers to the questionnaires sent out all over the world, speakers are confirming their attendance. They will discuss everything from varietal innovation to post-harvesting.
