FruitMasters to install 7,000 solar panels

Soon FruitMasters will install close to 7,000 solar panels. In doing so, this, the largest fruit cooperative in the Netherlands, will reduce its CO2 emissions. FruitMasters is realizing this project with the help of an energy 'growth voucher' from the development company, Oost NL.

The solar panels will be set up on various buildings' rooftops at FruitMasters site in Geldermalsen, the Netherlands. This involves an area of 1,5 hectares of solar panels. The solar power that will be generated will have several functions, including is the cooling of the fruit in the cold stores.

Oost NL's energy growth voucher makes it possible for FruitMasters to get this project off the ground. The engineering firm, Encon drew up an action plan and calculated the electrotechnical provision. With this in hand, an SDE+ subsidy was applied for and granted. An SDE + subsidy is a Dutch governmental subsidy for companies that produce renewable energy or are planning to do so.

The installation of these solar panels will stimulate the sustainable energy supply in Geldermalsen. The installation of these more than 7,000 solar panels forms part of FruitMasters broader ambitions in the area of sustainability.
