"At the request of a customer, we dealt with the subject of sprouts and at the beginning of the month we added organic radish, leek, radish and alfalfa sprouts from a Styrian producer in the region," says Peter Windhaber about the product from the Windhaber fruit trade from Stubenberg am See (Austria). Particularly popular are radish and alfalfa sprouts.
So far, demand is not so large, but the marketer is in a positive mood: "I've already done a bit of advertising on Facebook and on the wholesale market in Vienna and so we gained some customers. You have to give these new products some time." The sprouts are available year-round, from a regional partner.
Windhaber also pays special attention to the seasonality and regionality of his goods: "I try to offer Austrian goods as much as I can. It is, of course, not always possible." In the summer we work a lot with peppers, tomatoes and salads, in winter we trade the classic winter vegetables and root vegetables.""In the summer we also offer cherries, apricots, plums and peaches, in autumn it is apples and pears from the region," says Windhaber.
Another new product is found in organic potted herbs. Windhaber wants to promote these through a small raffle on his Facebook page: "We have are doing this raffle for the second time now. So far, they are well received by our customers." He gets the herbs from a Viennese grower.
In addition to its own stand on the wholesale market in Vienna, Windhaber also supplies regional and international goods to catering businesses and private individuals in and around Stubenberg. For the private subscription boxes, the marketer always pays special attention to the seasonal character of the delivered products.
