Delegation under Minister Khodjayev visits Russia

Uzbekistan cooperation with Russia on agriculture

Jamshid Khodjayev’s visit began with a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture of Russia Dmitry Patrushev. The main topic of negotiations became issues of increasing supply of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan to Russia. Then there were talks about the development of measures on assisting economic entities in implementation of these supplies.

The partners noted with satisfaction that in 2018, the trade turnover of agricultural products and food between countries increased by more than 20 percent and amounted to about 550 million USD. An agreement was reached on sharing accumulated experience in crop production, fish farming, scientific-technical sphere, collaborating on digitalization of agriculture and integration of traceability systems of agricultural products.

During the visit, a meeting was held with the Minister of Economic Development of Russia Maksim Oreshkin, which resulted in identification of responsible persons for development of joint action plan for cooperation and implementation of promising joint projects.

Mfa.uz reported how, during the dialogue with the Chairman of the Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs Igor Shuvalov, the Russian side announced its readiness for considering possibility of financing exports of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan to Russia. In the near future, relevant documents will be developed for their further signing and launching joint activity.
