Dutch greenhouse production off to a careful start

February is not yet over, and people are already eagerly awaiting Dutch products. It is still very early in the season, but the first Dutch cucumbers and, especially, aubergines are available again. Nevertheless, there is still sufficient, good quality Spanish produce on the market.

Cucumbers' color not yet right
There are more and more Dutch cucumbers in the trading channel. Sometimes, their color is not quite right. It is a real relief for the greenhouse growers when the sun starts to shine. There are not, as yet, Dutch cucumbers in the local shops. Retailers always wait for supplies of a decent quantity before they switch to Dutch cucumbers.

Top quality tomatoes
When it comes to tomatoes, we can really no longer talk of seasons. Dutch tomatoes can be bought throughout the year at retailers. However, in the winter, these have to compete with their imported counterparts. There is not much to say about the quality of Dutch tomatoes; it is excellent.

Only imported bell peppers
Almost all the bell peppers currently found on the Dutch market are imported. Many of these come from Spain. However, Morocco and Israel also supply this market. There are older batches, and the quality varies. Damage, limp fruit, and stalk rot are some of the quality issues that can be encountered at this time.
