Val de Nesque

“The volumes of cherries were very low this year”

Val de Nesque brings together 49 producers from the Mont Ventoux area. It sells grapes and cherries, as well as some apricots and plums.

Limited volumes of cherries this year
“The volumes of cherries were very low this year,” says Olivier Salignon, director of the company. “Bad weather conditions at the time of the production damaged most of the crops.” When the harvest is larger, the cherries are usually exported to Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Italy.

Grape production is increasing
The company’s grapes are available from July to December. Most are PDO Muscat grapes from the Ventoux. According to Olivier, the last campaign went well. “The quality of the grapes was good enough, and they were sold at a fair price. Our total production has slightly increased, but not for all producers. It depends on the production areas.” Val de Nesque works mainly with large retailers (75%) and wholesalers (25%).
