At the Danish Plantekongres 2019, Margrethe Askegaard of the Ecoviden consultancy firm discussed the choice between organic and conventional cultivation methods. According to Askegaard, there are advantages to both directions.
The time has therefore come for organic and conventional farmers to share the experiences. Conventional agriculture has a bad reputation among many consumers. This because of reports of the use of harmful pesticides. Perhaps there is a middle ground. Maybe crops can be grown without chemical pesticides but with fertilizers.
The organic cultivation sector will also have to adapt. Given the increasing demand for organic products, farmers will have to find ways to produce adequate volumes. These solutions could include new cultivation methods, crop rotation, and mechanical solutions.
