Chairs made from apples?

Replacing leather with apples? This is precisely Philippe Starck’s idea, the famous French designer. With an installation called “Cassina bites the Apple”, displayed at the design and decoration fair Maison&Objet, the designer presents his “Apple Ten Lork”, an original material made from apples and designed to replace leather.

“Leather couches are beautiful and comfortable, but why stop there? We ignore the question but we must find other solutions. Today, apples offer perhaps the beginning of an answer. Like Eve, Newton or  William Tell, we must believe in the apple, the Apple Power. Let’s eat apples and hope that the Cassina couch made of apples will open a new path, plant-based and respectful of others,” explains Philippe Starck.

The couch “Volage EX-S”, the collection “Privé” and the chairs “Caprice” and “Passion” have been reinterpreted with this innovative material, in white, orange and black. These items will be available in a limited edition.
