"I'll just see where it goes," a Portuguese man must have thought, when he was about to cross the border at Ramsen last Thursday around midnight.
His truck was well loaded. Customs officiers found 25 kilograms of tree nuts, 35 liters of olive oil, 96 kilograms of chestnuts, a carrier pigeon, five wheel rims and a cockatiel. But their findings did not end there. On closer inspection, the employees of the Federal Customs Administration discovered even more. The man had an additional 15 kilograms of lettuce, 8 kilograms of fish, 13 kilograms of meat, 12 kilograms of potatoes, 20 kilograms of rice, 5 kilograms of cheese, 11 kilograms of onions, 26 kilograms of apples, 5 liters of wine, a mattress and 25 kilograms of baby food on board.
