“Last week' s citrus sales went smoothly. It is quieter this week", says Peter Maes of Zeghers. “Everything has been running very smoothly since the start of the season. Since then, we now have the full range of citrus fruit available - from oranges to leaf clementines."
"The citrus supply has been stable and ample. There were slight delays with some products at the beginning of the season. It was nothing out of the ordinary, though. The prices are also normal for this time of year at the moment. There is nothing special going on this season. It is just running its course."
This Belgian importer has seen that there are many small-sized clementines. “This is due to the hot weather experienced this last summer. I have, however, noticed that there is not really a big demand for the larger sizes.
"We note that there is more and more competition from the Moroccan and Egyptian citrus. Moroccan and Egyptian products are not always more or less expensive. They are, however, becoming more popular", says Peter. “This year, we are expecting a stable season with pressure on the smaller sizes."
