First Turkish tomatoes to Russia in November

On Friday the Russian government signed a decree allowing the import of Turkish tomatoes as of November 1. Russia will allow the import of 50,000 tonnes of tomatoes from Turkey.

"The amendment allows the import of Turkish tomatoes in the volumes allowed by the Ministry of Agriculture under the guarantee of a competent Turkish institution and under the supervision of the phytosanitary service," the document reads.

The two country countries agreed the open the border on December 1, but the Russians brought this date forward. In the earlier decision Russia announced that imports from four companies was to be allowed.
