Onion producer prices stable, balanced carrot market

Onions
The Austrian onion market continues its development under the same conditions. The sales in Austria is continuous. The interest of the export markets keeps on going and is supplied without interruption even though the usual Christmas break is expected. In Austria the retailers aren’t willing to change the prices, thus the prices for the producers remain stable. At the beginning of the week loose onions, cleaned and sorted by size in crates, sold for 20 to 22 Euro per 100 kg.

Carrots
The carrot market remains well balanced. Due to the Christmas holidays the sales in Austria has picked up a bit. The prices remain stable for now. And in the coming year compensation of rising storage costs and losses is expected. The 1 kg bags of carrots, without additional packaging, went for 55 to 58 Euro per bag.
