Peru: Exporters will negotiate with producers of alternative crops

The producers who set aside the cultivation of coca and started betting on coffee, cocoa, pineapple, and plantain, among others, had a business meeting with more than 30 national and international companies that were selected and convened by the Association of Exporters (ADEX ) at the Corporate Business Roundtable for Alternative Products 2015, which was organized by the National Commission for Development and Life without Drugs (DEVIDA).

The participants included Algarrobos Orgánicos, Amaz Food, Cafetalera Orgánica, Condor Latam, Frutos Selectos del Sol, Inkanatura, International Business AQP, Judhe Arsen, MG Natura, Perú Orgánico y Natural, Peruvian Nature S&S, Q´uma Chocolate, Tecnología y Procesos Alimentarios, Pacha Mama Foods, among others.

More than 50 organizations of producers and valleys Monsoon Vraem, Puno, San Martin, Huanuco, Ucayali, Junín, and Cusco attended this business meeting. The expectation is they will close business for more than S /. 30 million with an offer consisting of coffee, cocoa and cocoa products, chocolate, pineapple, plantain, and papaya, among other products. 

The Business Roundtable was attended by several organizations from the Valley of Monzon, such as the Pampa Hermosa Association of Coffee producers and the Agroindustrial Services Cooperative from Centro Poblado (CAIBELLA), which recently opened its chocolate processing plant.

The Roundtable was also attended by several organizations from Vraem, such as the Agrarian Coffee Cooperative-CACVRA, the Agricultural Coffee producer Cooperative- EL QUINACHO, the Tropical Ecological Cooperative Kimbiri-CATEK, and the Producer Associations of Pineapple VRAE- Pangoa, Nuevo Progreso Producers VRAE and Organic Coffee Producers ( APOCAFE).
