UK berry market grows beyond £1 billion

Figures released by Kantar Worldpanel today shows that the fresh berry market in the UK has exceeded £1 billion for the first time.

"The market grew an impressive 31% during the latest period (4 week ending 11th October), which tipped the category over the one billion pounds mark," says Total Worldfresh Managing Director, Mark Player. This growth has come from combination of new customers, buying berries more often. "This is exciting news and is consistent with our own market research where customers demonstrate their excitement and expandability of this category. Indeed through the forthcoming winter season, berries are set to become even more important in the overall fruit category."

"£1 billion is a good milestone," says Mark, "but over the next few years there are many further exciting pathways to the continued accelerated growth in the berry market."
