Spain: Hail damages 60% of peach crop

Intense hail storms plaguing the Spanish regions of Alcañiz and parts of la Comarca del Matarraña last month have done more damage to the peach crops that initially thought. In some areas, over half the crop is lost.

Preliminary data showed that 20% of the harvest had suffered, but now these numbers have been adjusted to 60%. Several growers in Valdeltormo, a region that sustained heavy losses, confirmed the new data.

The storms raged through Alcañiz and part of Matarraña, limiting the damage to a 3-4 km strip.
