Germany: Bio-Siegel register 65,000th product

For a period of eleven years the organic trademark 'Bio-Siegel' has been in existence. More than 4,000 companies voluntarily chose to have the Bio-Siegel, which is issued by the 'Bundesanstalt für Landwirtschaft und Ernährung' (BLE),
put on their products. Recently the fiftysixth thousands Bio-Siegel was registered:
an apple juice of company 'GL ObstNatur UG' from Thüringen.

"We have to thank companies such as GL ObstNatur UG that the foodstuff industry remains innovative and that the organic market, which today has a volume of
5.9 million Euro, keeps on growing" as per BLE-chairman Hanns-Christoph Eiden.

The attractiveness of the Bio-Siegel with consumers is constant. About 87% of German consumers know the trademark and this is especially important for occasional buyers. "Therefore it is of importance with many companies for marketing reasons to continue using the Bio-Siegel even in addition to the European hallmark," Eiden stresses.
