The Peruvian fresh fruit and vegetable industry recently enjoyed one of its most dynamic periods. Data from PromPerú shows that from January to September 2025, Peru exported 2.1 million tons, representing a 35.7% rise compared to the same period last year. The export value reached $4.434 billion, driven by increased fruit availability and the recovery of major crops. However, the global supply increase caused a price adjustment, with the average price per ton falling from $2,470 to $2,100.
PromPerú attributes this growth to a strategic effort that involved more consistent production, enhanced technical skills, and an active commercial program in key markets. The organization describes the overall performance as "A year of more appointments, more volume, and more open doors."

Throughout 2025, PromPerú carried out 12 international activities in key markets, including the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia. Its role as an Official Partner Country at Asia Fruit Logistica involved a pavilion dedicated to meeting points, and it also participated in Fruit Logistica, Fruit Attraction, and the Global Produce and Floral Show, all in collaboration with the AGAP union. "These actions generated more than $2.404 billion in expected commercial growth, 5,600 business meetings, and the participation of 114 Peruvian companies, 71% of which are SMEs," they stated.
The regions with the highest presence were Lima, Piura, La Libertad, Junín, and Arequipa, showcasing a diverse productive environment. According to PromPerú, the challenge was to translate the increased visibility into tangible agreements, particularly in a year marked by difficult global weather conditions.

"The Expo Peru North 2025 business roundtable was created as a key activity to boost the participation of exporting SMEs. In La Libertad, 44 Peruvian companies held business meetings with 29 buyers from 11 countries, 90% of whom visited Peru for the first time. This momentum was made possible by the Hosted Buyer Program, which acted as a catalyst for attracting international buyers and creating new business opportunities in the country. As a result, the event projected $32.47 million in potential opportunities and secured $7.46 million in immediate business. Among the most sought-after categories were mango, avocado, grapes, kion, lemon, passion fruit, pomegranates, vegetables, and dehydrated or freeze-dried products," they stated.
These findings reaffirm the ongoing interest in Peru's blend of traditional superfoods and higher-value-added products.
The indicators show that Peru managed to sustain volume growth while strengthening its presence in key markets. The challenge now will be to maintain this momentum through logistical efficiency, certifications, access to strategic information, and improvements in the capacities of SMEs, which currently drive a significant part of the export activity," they concluded.
