The Tree Crops Development Authority has confirmed a new minimum farmgate price for fresh mangoes for Ghana's 2025 minor season. Following a stakeholder meeting with the Federation of Associations of Ghanaian Exporters and the National Mango Growers Association, participants agreed on GHS 4.18 per kilogram, equal to about US$0.29 per kilogram.
The engagement was organised to address long-standing producer concerns regarding pricing consistency, value chain transparency, and farmer returns. The session was convened under the leadership of the Authority's chief executive, Dr. Andy Osei Okrah.
Joining the meeting virtually, Dr. Okrah restated the Authority's regulatory mandate and said that a clear pricing structure supports both grower livelihoods and market competitiveness. He noted that setting a minimum price ahead of the season is intended to offer predictability for planning, harvesting, and export logistics.
Representatives from the Federation of Associations of Ghanaian Exporters and the National Mango Growers Association said the agreed price provides a benchmark for the upcoming minor season. They added that the arrangement supports coordination between growers, exporters, and processors.
The Authority stated that the engagement forms part of broader efforts to align value chain governance across Ghana's tree crops sector. The objective is to strengthen farmer income stability while maintaining the country's ranking in international mango markets.
